Who We Help

Every organization is different. Every crisis is different. CentrAlert’s Crisis-Driven Alert & Control (C-DAC) system can not only be set up to leverage any available infrastructure, but can also be implemented to meet countless security needs in the governmental sector.

Governmental Crisis Averted

CentrAlert’s C-DAC protects citizens, transient populations, government workers, military personnel and civilian contractors both locally and globally. Military bases throughout the Department of Defense use CentrAlert, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard. CentrAlert’s highly reliable and completely secure C-DAC system even allows automated actions such as playing full military music libraries or activating tornado sirens based on NOAA weather alert prompts.

Designing and Implementing the Solution

In 2008, CentrAlert outfitted SSC with its Crisis-Driven Alert & Control (C-DAC) to alert relevant personnel of crises involving severe weather conditions such as lightning, thunderstorms and tornados. Communication methods included outdoor speakers, public address systems, computer pop-up alerts, text messages and telephone call-outs. The center presented a unique challenge for coordinating crisis communication because the site houses a variety of governmental contractors, agencies and sub-agencies that utilize different technologies and need to receive different messages.

Maintaining the Solution

In 2014, NASA requested an upgrade for the SSC’s emergency alert and notification system. The Stennis Space Center had existing technology that detected lightning, which is a safety issue for the region. If lightning strikes in a certain area, work will not be permitted under those conditions. The problem was that SSC staff always had to monitor the lightning detectors and manually initiate emergency alert protocol to inform people on site about dangerous conditions.

Automating Activation

Fortunately, C-DAC can interface with any third-party technology. CentrAlert developers and engineers designed automatic system activation for NASA so that when lightning is detected, C-DAC sends out the appropriate alerts without operator intervention.
