Send Weather Alerts Through Any Channel Using Weather NOW!™
As part of the NOW!™ Module, CentrAlert offers Weather NOW!™, which automatically sends weather alerts to specific people via any communication channel warning them of a weather crisis. Weather NOW!™ receives information directly from the National Weather Service (NWS) or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), unlike other applications that rely on third-party interfaces to receive their weather data. Setting up Weather NOW!™
“Once configured, the Weather NOW™ module can be set to automatic mode, requiring no human interaction to launch alerts, or set to manual mode, which provides instant message prompts to alert the operator to take action,” said Don Rehmel, director of operations at CentrAlert.
The operator can choose all actions in advance for each potential crisis. For example, if there’s a tornado, he can choose what message to send, which people to send it to and which communication channels to use. He may choose to have the sirens in the affected geographic location go off and use text, social media, message reader board and email blast communication channels to relay the crisis information. If there’s a flood, the operator can set up an entirely different set of actions.
All of this can be done in advance so that crucial messages go out immediately in case of a crisis.
